HOA Pool Deck Refresh

8,500 Sq. Ft. Pool Deck Transformation for an HOA in Fort Worth

In November 2025, the Rubaroc team completed a large-scale 8,500 square foot pool deck renovation for a homeowners' association in Fort Worth, Texas. The existing surface was coated in an aging acrylic system that had begun to deteriorate—peeling, fading, and creating inconsistent traction throughout the space. The HOA needed a durable, low-maintenance solution that would improve safety while revitalizing the look and feel of their community amenity.

Over the course of five days, we transformed a dated and worn deck into a bright, inviting, and slip-resistant surface designed for all ages to enjoy.

The Challenge: Failing Acrylic & Safety Concerns

Acrylic coatings are often selected for pool decks due to their initial affordability and color flexibility. However, over time—especially under intense Texas sun exposure and high foot traffic—these systems can break down.

On this project, we observed:

  • Surface delamination and peeling

  • Visible UV fading

  • Hairline cracking in high-traffic areas

  • Inconsistent slip resistance

For an HOA, these issues are more than cosmetic. They represent potential liability and increased maintenance costs. The board needed a long-term solution that would withstand heat, heavy usage, and constant exposure to pool water and chemicals.

The Rubaroc Solution: Durable, Seamless & Permeable

Rubaroc is a stone and resin system designed specifically for environments like this. Unlike acrylic coatings that sit on the surface, Rubaroc creates a flexible, bonded system that offers:

  • Excellent slip resistance—even when wet

  • UV stability to resist fading

  • Crack-bridging flexibility

  • Permeability that allows water to drain through

  • Long-term durability with minimal maintenance

For an 8,500 sq. ft. deck, proper preparation was critical. Our team mechanically prepared the existing surface, addressed compromised areas, and ensured the substrate was ready for full adhesion before installation began.

The Design: Modified Caspian Blend

The HOA selected a modified Caspian blend consisting of:

  • White

  • Light grey

  • Dark blue

This custom combination delivered a clean, modern aesthetic while subtly tying into the pool’s water tones and surrounding architecture. The lighter aggregate brightened the space significantly compared to the faded acrylic, while the dark blue introduced depth and visual interest without overwhelming the area.

The result is a surface that feels fresh, vibrant, and cohesive—perfect for a community setting where families, children, and seniors gather.

Execution: 5-Day Completion Timeline

Despite the size and scope—8,500 square feet—we completed the entire project in just five days. This minimized disruption to residents and allowed the HOA to reopen the pool deck quickly.

Our phased approach ensured:

  1. Efficient surface prep

  2. Seamless installation across large continuous areas

  3. Clean transitions and edge detailing

  4. Consistent aggregate distribution for uniform appearance

Large HOA projects require coordination, precision, and experienced crews. Timing is especially critical when working around pool operations and community schedules.

The Result: Safe, Bright & Built to Last

What was once a deteriorating, high-maintenance acrylic deck is now:

  • Safer underfoot

  • Visually elevated

  • Resistant to future peeling and fading

  • Comfortable in high-heat conditions

  • Designed for long-term performance

For this Fort Worth HOA, the transformation wasn’t just aesthetic—it was an investment in safety, durability, and resident satisfaction.
